Whether you are exploring your identity, navigating a gender transition, seeking support for mental health concerns, or simply looking for a space where your experiences are understood and affirmed.

Therapy can offer a place for reflection and healing while processing authencity. LGBTQ2S+ identities and relationships are honoured at Hands to Heart Therapy and  I acknowledge the impact of historical and ongoing discrimination and systemic oppression. I aim to work towards creating a space that is affirming, inclusive and open to uniqueness.

How can Affirming Therapy Help?

Gender Identity, Transitioning, and Affirmation

For transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals, therapy can offer support throughout social, medical, legal, and personal aspects of transition. Counselling may help process emotions related to gender exploration, identity development, relationships, and navigating affirming or non-affirming environments.

Body Image, Self-Esteem, and Identity

Many LGBTQ2s+ people face pressures related to appearance, gender expression, body image, and social expectations. Therapy can help address body dissatisfaction, dysmorphia, self-acceptance, and the impact of social media, cultural norms, and community expectations.

Trauma, Grief, and Complex PTSD

Many LGBTQ+ individuals have experienced bullying, family rejection, discrimination, conversion therapy, medical trauma, or chronic invalidation. Counselling can help process these experiences, reduce the impact of trauma, and support healing and growth.

LGBTQ2S+ Youth and Adolescence

Growing up can be complex for LGBTQ2S+ youth. Counselling can support young people as they navigate puberty, identity development, school experiences, friendships, bullying, family relationships, self-esteem, and mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression.
