Areas of Practice

Through my lived experiences and work with clients and families and children in the school and medical systems, I gravitate towards the following areas in my practice:

Resilience

Emotional Regulation

Somatic Integration and Processing

Childhood Trauma

Identity, Belonging and Meaning

Medical trauma

Early childhood attachment

Relational attachment

Parenting-neurodiversity, gender identity and navigating school systems

Heartbreak, Grief and Loss

Anxiety and Depression

Chronic Illness, Medical Trauma, Diagnosis & Resilience

Living with chronic pain, illness, or medical trauma can shape how we move through the world. The unpredictability of pain often brings a steady undercurrent of uncertainty, fatigue, and overwhelm. I honour how this lived experience affects both mind and body — and how stress can deepen physical limitations and impact daily life. Together, we can gently explore what support looks like from a place of compassion and awareness.

Fertility and Birth Stories

If you are navigating fertility challenges, considering pregnancy or have experienced a traumatic birth story or loss, you may be carrying fear, grief, or uncertainty about what comes next. Counselling can be supportive to your own unique journey where there is space for all your feelings and experiences.

These sessions usually includes somatic work as the body holds your birth and fertility stories and also needs to move through and process pieces you might not even be conscious of. Therapy can be deeply supportive because integrating somatic approaches helps individuals process stress, trauma, and bodily signals, fostering a sense of safety, regulation, and connection with their changing or changed bodies during this vulnerable journey.

Complex Grief and Loss

Grief comes in waves and is an experience that is both unique and shared. My work with clients honours where they are at in holding their grief.

Family and Group Therapy

Family therapy with Meghan Stewart offers a compassionate, grounded space for families to heal together. Drawing from relational and somatic approaches, Meghan supports families navigating grief, addiction, sudden loss, and ruptures in connection. Sessions focus on restoring safety, understanding patterns, and repairing relationships—helping each person feel seen, heard, and supported from the inside out.

Somatic Trauma Work

My Practice is informed by the understanding that our body has wisdom. When embodied work is a part of counselling, I have witnessed deepened personal work. This includes, breath work, somatic connection and holistic integration.

LGBTQIA+ Relationships and Transitions

At Hands to Heart Therapy, all LGBTQIA+ identities and relationships are welcomed and honoured. I recognize the deep impact of historical and ongoing discrimination, and I hold space for the grief, resilience, and complexity that can come with that. My practice is rooted in creating an affirming and inclusive space — one that values your uniqueness and lived experience.

Child and Teen Anxiety, Grief and Trauma

When we support children and teens in meeting big feelings, discomfort, or dysregulation with care, we walk beside them as they grow. In this space, they begin to build inner connection, resilience, and a felt sense of safety — foundations that allow them to show up fully and authentically as themselves.

Parenting, Co-Parenting and Family Systems Work

Family systems therapy begins with the understanding that we are wired for connection. The attachments we form within our families shape how we relate, regulate, and make sense of the world around us. It's natural for tension, disconnection, and miscommunication to arise... these moments can create patterns that ripple through the family system. In this work, we gently explore these patterns, with curiosity and compassion, to support deeper understanding and more intentional connection between all members.
